9/18th Hole, The Birches/Hame

The 9th, Birches, involves a climb up the hill for gents whilst the ladies play from the foot of the hill. Aptly named as you look down from an elevated tee over heather, birch trees and a ditch to the fairway, which has ditches along the right side to the hole.

The fairway doglegs to the right to an awkward green in front of the clubhouse and requires a good accurate carry to make the fairway but the Par 4 affords a little comfort.

On the other hand, the 18th, Hame, is possibly the most difficult Par 3 finishing hole in the Highlands as far as the gents are concerned! This time, they also play from the foot of the hill but on a shorter hole to the same green as the 9th., often the downfall of a good round of golf. The ladies play a repeat of their Par 4 ninth.
