Golf Course in the Highlands of Scotland
Members’ Update – December 2011
So, the winter returns and golf in 2011 is but a memory apart from an odd day when the weather allows us out. Our official season finished 6 weeks ago with the annual prize-giving, see the website for details and pictures, and we now look forward to the 2012 season opening on Sunday 1st April (no kidding). In the meantime a few hardy gents have started a winter league, which will provide a challenge and a chance for a blether, even if the golf is less than sparkling.
The course remains in great condition thanks to the efforts of Michael and Robert, but Michael is now on his own over the winter following our decision to make Robert’s position as assistant a seasonal one and he left at the end of October with a small presentation from the Committee.
We will shortly be reviewing the year end finances and looking to the 2012 budget and AGM in late February. This year has proved to be better than expected but we still face a challenging future as we look to continue to develop the club and the course.
Our Scottish Nine Hole Open will return again on 10 July with generous sponsorship from Tomatin Distillery and support from the Cairngorms Business partnership, look out for press and other media coverage of this over the coming months. Our website has been updated with additional information and publication of a fantastic prize fund.
Another change in 2012 is the introduction of the Central Database of Handicaps (CDH) which should make it easier for members to keep track of their handicap if playing at other courses, see here for more details.
As you contemplate falling snow, consider what other things we could do in the coming season which would be of interest to you and your golfing buddies, all suggestions gratefully received through Facebook, our Blog or to the secretary by email (secretay@carrbridgegolf.co.uk)
With thanks from the Committee for your support through 2011, we hope to welcome you back refreshed in 2012.
John Walker - President
